As you may know our products are used by many organisations such as government, national mapping agencies, aviation authorities and system integrators to help them with their data exchange challenges.However, you may not be aware that our products are also used by academic institutes all over the world for education and research.
We've recently welcomed three renowned European universities to our Academic Programme: Comenius University in Slovakia, K.U. Leuven in Belgium and Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands.
Comenius University
Named after the 16th century teacher, educator and writer John Amos Comenius, the Comenius University in Bratislava is the oldest university in Slovak Republic. Its department for cartography, geoinformatics and remote sensing will use Snowflake's products to teach their students about data harmonisation, data transformation and GML in general.
The university actively participates in several European INSPIRE projects such as GIS4EU and is as a member of the INSPIRE Thematic Working Group for Energy Resources.
Some of the staff of the department are members of a professional working group to prepare legislative proposals , regulations and technical specifications designated to implement the INSPIRE Directive in Slovak Republic.

K.U. Leuven
The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium was founded in 1425 and is the oldest Catholic university in the world and the oldest university in the Low Countries. The department of Spatial Applications Division Leuven (SADL) is the research and development division of the K.U. Leuven. SADL was set up to manage and further develop the applied research, consultancy and training activities in the fields of GIS, Earth Observation and Spatial Data Infrastructures.
The team at SADL actively participates as a partner in the European NatureSDIplus project. NatureSDIplus aims at establishing a Best Practice Network dealing with a cluster of the data themes listed in the Annexes I and III of the INSPIRE Directive and focuses on nature conservation issues.
SADL will be using Snowflake's product GO Publisher for creating translations and publishing INSPIRE compliant environmental datasets.

T.U. Delft
Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands is the largest and oldest Dutch public university, founded by King William II of The Netherlands in 1842 as a Royal Academy. It ranks amongst the top universities in the world in the field of technology.
The research institute for the Built Environment, OTB, specialises in independent research and consultancy in the field of housing, construction and the built environment. The institute is part of Delft University of Technology.
OTB will use Snowflake's products for several of their research and educational projects. One of these projects that the OTB participates in is the national "3D Pilot" project which aims to define a 3D standard for The Netherlands.
